JUNE

Picture
You know summer is here when you here the news, surf report, and every surfer talking about the south shore swell.  Every year in Hawaii during the summer months the southern coastlines of the Hawaiian Islands are recipients of large ocean swells which make for some excellent surfing conditions.
In June, surfers were delighted to hear surf forecasts calling for advisory level wave heights, between 5 to 8 feet, which is pretty much perfect for waves around Waikiki and Ala Moana.  According to Pat Caldwell's records, June saw wave averages we've not seen for over 30 years (the 70's).
Hawaii’s lifeguards were reported to have performed 19 rescues, 35 assists, and 563 warnings on Oahu’s southern shores just during one weekend.
That being said, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING got done in the Narbut household.  We woke up at 4:30 and paddled out by 5am.  We went to work.  Got off work and paddled out again by 5:00pm.  We ate out most of our meals out, even breakfast. To add to all the craziness, Mathew flew for three weekends to Maui.  It was not enough that he was surfing everyday.  He was windsurfing every weekend.

So we do not have any photos.  No one wanted to bring the camera out in the big waves! We are substituting other people’s photos for this section.  We want you all to experience the unforgettable June that we just had.
